A Message From the President
February 6, 2008

Dear Faculty, Staff, Students and Trustees:

Steve

On Tuesday, February 12, I will be undergoing surgery at Renown Medical Center to remove a tumor from my adrenal gland that my doctor believes is benign. Remarkably the tumor was discovered during tests that preceded my recent knee replacement surgery. Although it has not grown over a significant amount of time, it must be removed.

If everything goes as planned, I'll be out for about two weeks and hope to be back in my office by the end of February. I appreciate the good will and the many kind words I've received from many of you. I also appreciate your patience as I address this recently discovered health issue.

During the period of time that I am in the hospital, Chris Maples, our Executive Vice President for Research, will be standing in for me.  However, I hope to be in contact with my office on a daily basis if anything needs my attention. Again, thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Until next time,

Dr. Stephen Wells
